Frequently Asked Questions

What's included with the Ultimate Combo, and what isn't?

It ships with the full attachment set, W-shaped pull-up bar, spotter arms, J-hooks, foot plate, landmine, dip bars, leg extension/curl attachment, pegboard, lat pulldown bar, triceps rope, V-handle row, straight bar and more; 15 pieces in total. The only thing not included is a bench. Since the unit is built for chest presses, seated rows and other bench-based movements, most buyers pair it with a dedicated adjustable bench such as the PowerBells Bench Pro, which offers 10 incline/decline positions to match the trainer's cable heights.

Should I choose the vertical or angled Smith machine?

Both use the same high-strength steel guide system and linear bearings, so the choice comes down to how you train. Vertical keeps the bar moving in a straight line, closer to a free-weight squat or press. Angled follows a natural pressing arc, which some lifters find easier on the shoulders for incline and bench work.

Do I need to buy weight plates separately for the Smith machine?

Yes. The dual cable towers use built-in weight stacks, so those don't need plates. But the Smith machine's Olympic barbell is plate-loaded, so you'll need Olympic plates to use it. If you don't already have a set, PowerBells' Electroplated Weight Plates are sized for standard Olympic bars and sold in a range of increments, so you can start light and add plates as you progress.

How much weight can the dual weight stacks take, and do I need special flooring underneath?

Each side stack starts at 70kg and can be expanded up to 120kg, giving a wide range for beginners through to advanced lifters. Given the unit's weight and the load it carries during heavy cable and Smith machine work, we recommend protecting your floor and cutting vibration/noise with interlocking mats, such as PowerBells' Rubber Gym Flooring Mats (1m × 1m × 15mm), especially on a concrete garage floor or an upper level.

What's the difference between the Ultimate Combo and the Performance Combo?

Both are commercial-grade functional trainer and Smith machine combos, but the Ultimate Combo sits at the top of PowerBells' range and adds stainless steel vertical uprights for extra durability and finish. If you want a similar dual-cable-plus-Smith-machine setup at a lower price point, the Functional Trainer Performance Combo is worth comparing; check both product pages for the full spec differences before deciding.
